แล้วขยะอิเล็กทรอนิกส์เหล่านี้ควรนำไปทิ้งอย่างไร ให้ปลอดภัย?

จึงทำให้เกิดปัญหาสำคัญคือ การทิ้งซากผลิตภัณฑ์ปะปนกับขยะทั่วไป และการจัดการซากผลิตภัณฑ์ที่ไม่ถูกต้อง สามารถส่งผลเสียต่อสุขภาพอนามัยทั้งในระยะสั้นและระยะยาว และก่อให้เกิดปัญหามลพิษต่อแหล่งน้ำ พื้นดิน และอากาศ

เพื่อให้ขยะอิเล็กทรอนิกส์เหล่านี้ถูกนำไปคัดแยกชิ้นส่วนและเข้าสู่กระบวนการรีไซเคิลได้อย่างถูกวิธี ทำให้สามารถนำกลับมาใช้ใหม่ให้เกิดประโยชน์ เพื่อเพิ่มมูลค่า และยังเป็นการช่วยลดการเกิดมลพิษได้ในระยะยาวอีกด้วย

นอกจากด้านของสิ่งแวดล้อม การนำขยะอิเล็กทรอนิกส์ไปทิ้งอย่างผิดวิธี ก็อาจทำให้เกิดการรั่วไหลของข้อมูลได้ เพราะข้อมูลข้างในอุปกรณ์ ยังไม่ได้ผ่านกระบวนการทำลายข้อมูลที่ถูกต้อง จึงอาจเกิดการโจรกรรมข้อมูลไปใช้เพื่อแสวงหาผลประโยชน์ หรือการถูกสวมสิทธิ์ ซึ่งสามารถนำมาสู่ความเสียหายทางทรัพย์สินและความปลอดภัยได้
